Dear Friends: This weekend a talk will be given concerning preserving the Stained Glass windows from St. Gertrude Church. The plan is to use some later at the St. Gertrude cemetery and at St. Michael as some kind of memorial shrine, prayer area. Perhaps some will be used at other places. At least these artworks will not simply be disposed of. We need to raise the funds now to remove them from the building which will soon be sold. Please be generous in pledging to donate funds to accomplish this task, I know it means a lot to the people of Des Allemands.
Speaking of the St. Gertrude Cemetery, we have sold 3 of the new cremation niches at the sale price while they were being constructed. They are complete now and the price increases from $1500 to $1600 each for the next 6 mos. We also have some communal mausoleum burial spaces available for a reduced price of $2,700. In the near future a new mausoleum will be built and the prices will be higher for newly constructed burial spaces. Please reflect on and make plans now if you would like a burial for someone at St. Gertrude cemetery in the future. We thank the volunteers who have worked hard over the years to cut grass and clean the cemetery grounds. We hope to keep the cemetery a beautiful and sacred space for the final resting place of our community faithful.
