Dear Friends:
We are excited to learn that our new Archbishop, James Checchio, will visit St. Michael the Archangel Parish on Saturday, May 30 and celebrate the 4:30 pm mass. We will have a simple reception for him afterward at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall. I hope that many of you will take this opportunity to come meet him on this occasion. He will soon be travelling to Rome to receive his Pallium from Pope Leo as a new Archbishop in union with the Holy Father on June 29, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. He is trying to visit all of the parishes on a casual basis each year. Let's give him a good down the bayou welcome to the River Parishes.
On Pentecost we recognize the giving of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and Early Christian Church who were then sent to announce the Gospel to the world. It was the birth of the Church; and they were transformed and boldly preached the Good News of Salvation to all the world May we continue that Mission here in our homes and community.
I am happy to return home after my visit to Yosemite Park and retreat outside of San Francisco. It was a wonderful time to reflect on the beauty of God's creation and enjoy a break and change of scenery. I was praying for you; and Fr. Martin enjoyed his time serving you. May you all have an opportunity for recreation soon also.
God's Blessing to All,
Fr. Lance
