All Souls Day is observed on Sunday, November 2nd and our Family Mass will be celebrated at the 10:30 AM mass that Sunday. We will especially honor those from St. Michael who died during the past year. Everyone is encouraged to write the names of deceased loved ones in the Book of the Living. Both the Book of the Living and the stack of All Souls donation envelopes will be present on the altar and prayed for at all masses during the month of November.
All Saints Day is observed on Saturday, Nov. 1st. The monthly rosary will be held at 9:00 AM at the St. Gertrude Cemetery. Afterwards, at 10:00 AM, also in the St. Gertrude Cemetery, an outdoor mass will be celebrated. It will be held in the grassy area, so you must bring your own chairs and shade. After mass, Father will then bless the graves at the St. Gertrude Cemetery and three others: the Graham/Schmill Cemetery (at 10:30 AM), the Mennonite Cemetery in Des Allemands (at 11:00 AM), and the Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche (at 11:15 AM). If you wish a grave to be especially blessed you must be present when the priest is walking to do a general blessing of all the graves.
Many are planning to clean their tombs before All Saints and All Souls Day on Nov. 1 & 2. Please do what you can to care for our cemetery Note that all crypts in the mausoleums are enrolled in the perpetual care program along with 10 other tombs.
Thanks to the Fundraising Committee for holding the first Faith, Fellowship and Food event on October 4th. We appreciate those who cooked the gumbo, helped with setup, serving, & clean-up, those who donated dessert or items for auction, and those who bought dinners. They raised about $5,000. We look forward to other social events that will help our parish ministries!
